The TAIKOPROJECT is pleased to announce that the grant application that Vancouver, Canada-based youth group Chibi Taiko submitted to the 2010 Legacies Now program has been approved! For the next year, members of the TAIKOPROJECT will work with Chibi Taiko to develop new works to start including into their repertoire in 2006!

The TAIKOPROJECT is invited to participate in the Asian Arts Initiative's "Live Traditions/Contemporary Issues" Conference. The conference, held at the Painted Bride Arts Center is a two-day festival exploring the relationship between tradition and modernity and the function of heritage, identity, and hybridity in artistic practice and in the field of performance. If you're in Philly in early May, come swing by and check it out!

The TAIKOPROJECT has been asked to perform for this summer's biggest taiko concerts-- TAIKO JAM 2005, at the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center in Little Tokyo! The two concerts on Saturday, July 16 (8 pm) and Sunday, July 17 (3 pm), are presented as part of the 2005 North American Taiko Conference. Tickets will go on sale soon, stay tuned here for updates...

The TAIKOPROJECT's summer keeps getting busier and busier... just after the North American Taiko Conference ends, but before the Tofu Festival starts, we'll be performing for a week at the Hollywood Bowl as part of their Summer Sounds series. The TAIKOPROJECT is asked to perform back at the 10th Annual Tofu Festival in Little Tokyo, August 13 & 14! Ah, tofu and taiko, such a delicious combination... Also, May 2005 will see us doing a number of educational programs at the Lumbini Child Development Center, the JACCC's "Kodomo no Hi" Children's Day program, and at Pierce College in Woodland Hills. Hope 2005 is starting off well for you--as for us, we just got back from the Arts Presenters Conference in New York City with discussions for our Spring, 2006 Tour now underway...more details to come soon.
