TP says goodbye to three-year performing member Courtney Deguchi this week, as she prepares to leave for Japan. Courtney will be participating in the JET Program for a year and perhaps, bringing the Courtney Dance to Japanese schoolchildren in the countryside... Good luck Courtney and keep in touch!

Bryan's brother Wynn is touring California in early August with his band Kioku! Check them out if you want to hear their taiko mixed with live laptop electronics and saxophones... Info on their tour is here.

Bryan's back from India...with numerous stories of performing in hot and humid un-air conditioned theaters, primitive theaters with bamboo rigging, eating lentils every day, and rooming with the Moonman. So far, a nice relaxing summer break...but Bryan is off to India in a few days with Kinnara Taiko and the Arpana Dance Company for a seven-city charity concert tour, and Maz is getting ready for On Ensemble's Summer Concert "Ukiyo." Whew...the film shoot is over. Check out a couple new videos posted online. First, our performance (with bad audio recording) from Dynamite USA 2007 from the L.A. Coliseum, Maz and Bryan playing Kenny Endo's Symmetrical Soundscapes as part of last Spring's "Pioneers" piece, and a bootleg video of our performance at the FUSION 2007 Hip Hop Competition where we think it is the first documented performance of taiko and "the worm." Just played at the L.A. Coliseum for the DYNAMITE USA Mixed Martial Arts Competition, and currently on set for David Mamet's new film, entitled "Red Belt." Also, just returned from a performance in Arkansas with the inimitable Frank Boehm, and a quick show for the 2007 Hyatt Chefs Conference. And in a few days...some much needed down-time...!

This Saturday, Kitsune Taiko performs at the JACCC's Kodomo-no-hi Children's Day festival! The next TP show will be in a couple weeks at the Tao Nightclub in Las Vegas, then workshops for those collegiate taiko hopefuls, and then....in Arkansas. In the meantime, if you want to check out the Intercollegiate Taiko Concert, it's from 3:00 - 6:00 pm on Sunday, May 27 at UCLA's Ackerman Grand Ballroom. After all, it's FREE, and will be emceed by TP's own Yuta and Bryan (but they will not be wearing fundoshi).

Tomorrow Bombu Taiko plays at Centenary Methodist Church's Arigato Bazaar, and then we perform at the Long Beach Museum of Art! Kitsune Taiko also has upcoming performances, and then we give workshops at the big Intercollegiate Taiko Invitational at our favorite school, UCLA...
