"The Original Courtney Dance"
Courtney Deguchi

circa Fall, 2005

By popular demand we are happy to bring to you "The Original Courtney Dance." Legend has it that the collegiate taiko group Yukai Daiko was practicing in one of their usual rehearsal spots (a parking garage at UCLA), when Courtney decided to start dancing on the sideline. Yukai Daiko member Ryan Ishikawa had his handy-dandy digita camera (with video capabilities) at his side, and decided to catch this magical moment of spontaneous choreography. He then shared the footage with TAIKOPROJECT member Yuta Kato, who was inspired to add text and original music to the footage (which before just had lots of loud drumming).

Following this, Yuta showed his video creation to the members of TAIKOPROJECT at a rehearsal which Courtney had just happened to miss. Once again, inspiration struck and the group decided to shoot another video featuring all of the members paying tribute to Courtney. Watch all the way to the end to see the potential new "Yuri Dance" that will be making it big soon as well.

And of course, from here, came the TP Boyz's video in Dubai, paying an international homage to Courtney and sharing the Courtney Dance with anyone willing to open their hearts and minds to the spirit of Courtney.

Peace and love, y'all.
